SITES FOR THE MONTH

This article will complete the third year of my contribution to Berita MMA. My first article was in March 1997! I am behind schedule on this article with no inspiration but lots of perspiration in trying to "cook up" something decent.

The easiest way out is to recommend some sites with interesting information. Rather then surfing the web and looking for sites, I will browse through my history folder and go on offline mode to view some of the sites that I had visited over the last month. Yes, your sites that you had visited over the last month can be viewed in your computer by a third party if he happens to use your PC or shares your PC. You could prevent this by ensuring that your history is deleted when you log off, but that is for another article by itself! Hey, it is not easy coming up with a new article every month, so I got to squeeze every drop I can get my hands on.

So here goes.......

The Apnea Patient's News, Education & Awareness Network. For those who are nodding off , "Sleep apnea is a serious, potentially life-threatening condition that is far more common than generally understood. First described in 1965, sleep apnea is a breathing disorder characterized by brief interruptions of breathing during sleep. It owes its name to a Greek word, apnea, meaning "want of breath." There are two types of sleep apnea: central and obstructive. Central sleep apnea, which is less common, occurs when the brain fails to send the appropriate signals to the breathing muscles to initiate respirations. Obstructive sleep apnea is far more common and occurs when air cannot flow into or out of the person's nose or mouth although efforts to breathe continue."

Hoping to make your own Family Tree or see if someone you should know but did not (relative) had made one....check this site out. I have made my own family tree and if you can find your way around the site, you should be able to view it. This program allows you to make your own or extended family tree along with photographs, movie clips, etc. If you do not have one in your family it is about time you did because as time passes by, this information will be lost or difficult to obtain. I am sure there are times when you meet your relative and you do not clearly know how you are related.....what more when your kids grow up.

A search engine by categories as well as free text search. I found it good.

Another wonderful search engine.

A voluntary association of editors from many countries who seek to foster international cooperation among editors of peer-reviewed medical journals.
